Today they are girls.
Tomorrow they are leaders.

In the first 23 months of the pandemic, students around the world lost between eight to 12 months of learning. Take a moment and let that sink in. As many as 70% of students are now experiencing “learning poverty” – unable to read and understand a simple text by age ten. Even in places with effective school systems and near-universal connectivity and device access, learning delays were significant, especially for historically vulnerable populations. Your support of DWC’s EVERY GIRL program will help tip the scale through access to education, clean water and sanitation, improved housing and a host of other initiatives targeted to empower girls and women around the world.

Shirisha attends Shuvatara English School in Gadhawa, Nepal. Shirisha, her grandparents, father, younger sister, aunt, uncle, and her cousin make up the family’s 8 members. During the monsoon season, they are all very busy planting the paddy.

Shirisha is 18 years old and is a Grade-9 student. She loves going to school, but her parents faced a difficult decision: provide for their family or send Shirisha to school. DWC’s EVERY GIRL program was able to offer Shirisha a scholarship and ensure that her family doesn’t need to worry about her future education.

Now, Shirisha is tasked with the challenge of playing catch up in her school work and needs YOU.

Remember Faith Joy from DWC’s Christmas campaign in 2021? We are pleased to report she is not only excelling in her studies, but will be pursuing a University education in 2023!

This would not have been possible without your support.

Faithjoy is also 18 years old, but has been able to access quality education in Liberia through her teenage years. We want for other students, what Faithjoy will get to experience in 2023, the opportunity to pursue education at the highest level.

When you make the decision to support EVERY GIRL, young women like Shirisha and Faithjoy are empowered and given the freedom to pursue their dreams.
