Developing World Connections is committed to safeguarding your privacy online while providing information about the organization and the work that it does with volunteers, donors, corporate partners and in-country partners. The following questions explain how your personal information will be treated when you access the DWC website.

What data do you collect and how do you use this information?

DWC does not capture or store personally identifying information (such as your email address, name, title or postal address) without your knowledge when you visit our site. You are always able to choose to provide us with such information.

If you do not want to receive emails from us, please let us know by sending an email to us at info@developingworldconnections.org and telling us that you do not want to receive email from us. If you supply us with your postal address on-line, you will only get the information for which you provided us your address. Developing World Connections will never willfully disclose individually identifiable information about you to any third party without first receiving your permission. DWC does not rent, trade or sell your personal information to others. Information collected is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Opt out or change your personally identifiable information

DWC’s website gives users the chance to opt out of getting more communications from us at the point where we request information from you. You are entitled to know about the personal information DWC holds about you and you also have the right to have your data updated, corrected or deleted. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information about our supporters is important to DWC.

Security

Your credit card security is of the utmost importance to us. We want you to have peace of mind when supplying this information to us.

DWC uses a high-level secure server to store your credit card details to ensure that information stays private and confidential. We have appropriate security measures in place to protect against the misuse of information we have collected from you. All financial information is kept in locked files or electronic files that are password protected.

All confidential information sent via our website (such as credit card numbers) uses the Internet security protocol known as Secure Sockets Layer or SSL. This is a certification and encryption technology designed to make using your credit card as safe as possible on the Internet. We do not save credit card numbers and no one at DWC has access to your entire credit card number, only the last four digits for identification purposes.

Data protection policy

DWC strives to observe the law in all collection and processing of subject data and will meet any subject access request in compliance with the law. DWC will only use data in ways relevant to carrying out its legitimate purposes and functions as a charity in a manner that is not prejudicial to the interests of individuals. DWC takes due care in the collection and storage of any sensitive data. DWC staff will do their utmost to keep all data accurate, timely and secure.

As a charity, DWC shares some data with employees and partners overseas, but ensures that all staff understand they are required to observe data protection laws when handling information transferred overseas.

All DWC staff, whether permanent or temporary, and voluntary workers must be aware of the requirements of data collection laws when they collect or handle data about an individual. DWC staff must not disclose data except where there is subject consent or legal requirement. Data sent to outside agencies must always be protected by a written contract. All collection and processing must be done in good faith.
