TRAVEL PACKING LIST

Personal (individual) Items

This list is to remind you of items you may want with you. Some items are entirely dependent on your needs and level of comfort you wish. If traveling as a couple or in a group, several items could be shared.

First Aid/Health Items

  • Personal first aid kit (Band-aids, gauze,tape, etc)
  • Prescription medications (in original containers)
  • Malaria medication
  • Insect repellant (min.30% DEET), coils
  • Cipro or Septra antibiotics
  • Tums/PeptoBismal/Kaopectate/Imodium
  • Antiseptic
  • Bactroban salve (antibacterial lotion)
  • Sunscreen/ Lip balm with UV protection
  • Blister pads/ Foot powder
  • Pain relievers (Aspirin/Tylenol)
  • Gatorade/Lemonade/Electrolyte crystals
  • Iodine (also serves as water purifier)
  • Water purification kit
  • Altitude medication (if traveling to Machu Picchu)

Toiletries

NOTE: Unscented doesn’t attract mosquitoes as much

  • Hairbrush/comb
  • Shaving items
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, Dental floss
  • Toilet paper/ Facial tissues
  • Deodorant, moisturizer/lotion
  • Nail clippers/file/small scissors
  • Hand soap
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Ear plugs, eye mask
  • Purell/Wet towelettes or baby wipes
  • Face cloth, towel

Food & Drink

  • Good coffee and coffee press
  • Peanut butter, small jam packs
  • Granola bars/power bars/ Trail mix
  • Salt/pepper
  • Fork/spoon
  • Other favourites that you just can’t do without

Equipment

  • Power Converter
  • Flashlight/solar light/battery-operated tea lights
  • Camera, USB key/memory card, batteries/chargers
  • Swiss Army style knife
  • Work gloves, Dust masks, Duct tape
  • Sunglasses/ Compact umbrella (sun)
  • Reading material, Journal & writing instruments
  • Plastic bags for dirty clothes,
  • Laundry soap, clothespins, string
  • Sewing kit, Safety pins
  • Sleeping bag liner
  • Luggage tags on checked luggage
  • Daypack (carry-on luggage),
  • Waist pouch for passport, money, etc.
  • Water bottle (1L)

Clothing – Light color & light weight

If traveling in the winter months some warmer clothing will be required.

  • Long, pants and/or skirt, sarong
  • Hiking style pants/shorts combination
  • Light hiking boots/runners (for work)
  • Walking shoes or sandals
  • Long sleeved and cotton T-shirts
  • Rain Jacket/light weight jacket,
  • Shawl or scarf to cover shoulders and head
  • Socks (light), underwear, swimsuit,
  • Wide brim hat or ball cap
  • Pajamas (clothes to sleep in)

  • Passport (plus 2 photocopies)
  • Driver’s License
  • Medical Insurance Papers
  • Cancellation Insurance Papers
  • Credit Cards & ATM Cards
  • Airline Tickets (may be electronically produced)
