Building the future together

Many school-age children on the outskirts of Lima grow up in poverty, with limited access to health services and educational support. These children often experience low literacy, poor academic performance, malnutrition, and school dropout at an early age.

DWC in partnership with IFEJANT has developed a transformative program dedicated to removing these barriers, providing quality education, and improving the lives of children in the underprivileged urban barrio of Lima. Our mission is to enhance both social and academic outcomes for children by creating a solid foundation for learning.

We work to set students and teachers up for success by focusing on essential areas such as:

  • Clean Water: Ensuring schools have safe and accessible drinking water.
  • Hygienic Sanitation: Providing sanitation facilities to promote health and prevent illness.
  • Safe Learning Environments: Creating dedicated spaces that foster education, free from distractions and hazards.

By joining this team you can make a tangible impact on children’s lives by helping build a foundation for their future. Whether you’re assisting with infrastructure projects or supporting teachers and students directly, your volunteer efforts will improve the quality of education and open up new opportunities for these children.

Ready to make a difference? Volunteer with DWC and be part of a movement to provide children with the education they deserve!

MAKE AN IMPACT
In Peru
  • Limited Access to Education: Over 30% of children in Lima’s slums do not complete primary education, primarily due to overcrowded classrooms, lack of resources, and early school dropouts caused by economic pressures.

  • Poor Health and Nutrition: 50% of children in Lima’s slums suffer from malnutrition, and one in five children lacks access to proper healthcare, leading to high rates of preventable diseases and stunted growth.

  • Exposure to Violence and Exploitation: In Lima’s most vulnerable areas, 70% of children live in neighborhoods where violence is common, with many facing physical or emotional abuse, exploitation, or being involved in child labor at an early age.

Travel Light Offset Your Carbon Footprint

Carbon offsets are used to compensate for the greenhouse gasses that we create through certain activities, such as flying. For every tonne of carbon released into the atmosphere, an ‘offset’ is a carefully designed project that absorbs or stores the equivalent CO2 emissions. You can choose to offset your own flight, your whole family’s, or do this as a gift for a friend.
