It's almost impossible to imagine. For too many parents in this world, it's a decision they have to make.
7-year-old Rejoice Depaul, who is part of DWC EVERY GIRL, lives with her mother, Esther, and two brothers, Destiny and Perry, in a one room home in Paynesville, Liberia. Rejoice is a grade 1 student at the African Dream Academy and she loves going to school. It shows in her report card too. She is achieving high marks in her lessons. Rejoice’s hope is to become a lawyer one day so she can help people who have been wronged.
“As a single mother who is partially blind, I do not have to worry about finding my daughter school fees while at the same time handling other responsibilities for my children. Without the [Every Girl] scholarship Rejoice would not have gone to school this year and maybe next year. I would ask her to help me sell in the street so we can have food to eat. She wouldn’t have had the opportunity like normal children."
