How it Works Eight Simple Steps to Get You on Your Way

STEP01

Decide When and Where

View our Trip Schedule and sign up for one of our trips - It is FREE to sign up! Review our Frequently Asked Questions and reach out to us for anything else. Consider inviting others to join with you!

STEP02

Meet Your Team Leader

You’ll hear from your Team Leader a few days after signing up, who will help answer questions all along the way, pre-trip and on the ground. They will be an invaluable resource to you. We LOVE our Team Leaders, and you will too!

Our volunteer Team Leaders have:

  1. Travelled with DWC before.
  2. Gone through DWC training.
  3. First Aid certification.
  4. Completed a criminal record check.

Next Steps

Once the trip has at least 8 volunteers signed up, it is a GO! You’ll receive a ‘Next Steps’ email from us.

You will be required to:

  1. Pay your $1000 non-refundable deposit
  2. Complete the DWC forms (viewable copies here)
  3. Provide a copy of your passport!

STEP04

Trip Confirmation

You’ll receive a ‘Trip Confirmation’ email from us. Once we send you date/time requirements, you'll be required to book your flight. If you book your flights through our travel agent, receipts are tax deductible!

STEP05

Finance Your Trip

Finance your trip in its entirety. The entire trip is 100% tax deductible!

  • Flight costs (amount varies). Due within 10 days, if booked through DWC.
  • Final trip cost – remaining balance, less your deposit. Due a minimum of 45 days prior to departure.

Your trip cost includes accommodations, meals, in-country transport, program costs, and a donation to our host partner in their respective country. If you want to give family and friends an opportunity to help you get there, start fundraising as soon as possible. We have resources to help you!

STEP06

Prepare for International Travel

Doctor/Travel Clinic visit – check with your doctor about any medical concerns at least 3 months before travel. Get your vaccinations and get extra supply of medications as needed.

Current passport – You are responsible to check that your passport is valid for 6 months after your trip return date.

Visa – you are responsible to check visa requirements for the country you are going to.

Insurance – Travel Medical Insurance is mandatory and can be purchased through our travel agent. Travel insurance is optional but highly recommended.

STEP07

Learn Before You Go

Have fun researching where you are going in the time leading up to your trip. We will provide orientation materials and a webinar orientation prior to departure with specifics about your trip and project. Check your packing list and make sure you've got everything you'll need.

STEP08

Hop on the Plane!

This is a new and unforgettable experience. Take lots of photos, write blog posts, keep a journal, and make new friends and memories.
